Assignment • Challenge:

Create opening title credits for an existing foreign film. (Original language in title)
Only use black and white and only basic shapes of typography found in film title.

Movie Selection • Io Non Ho Paura  (Italian for: I Am Not Afraid)

Based on a series of true events that occured in Southern Italy during the 1970's,
Io Non Ho Paura, is the story of a little boy named Michele - who finds another boy his age - Filippo in a dark covered hole. Filippo is initially blind as he has been living chained inside total darkness.  Michele soon realizes that Filippo has been kidnapped. At first he is afraid
to speak of finding Filippo but soon he gains confidence to set Filippo free.

Concept l Solution:

Throughout the movie, there is a lot of symbolism between dark and light. Although it is Filippo who is intially blind - living in total darkness, we realize that it is Michele who is blind
to his own world. The last scene of the movie alludes to the transcendence between dark

and light, from being lost and (finding enlightenment) found.

Since this was a typography challenge and almost every word in Italian has the letter "O",
I used the basic shape of the "O" in the movie title to symbolize the original hole - and also
the light of the helicopter that comes to rescue Filippo.
